Screen systems for glass greenhouses are available in a large variety of types, each with their own place and purpose in the greenhouse.
Horizontal screens
Of all screen types horizontal screens are most common. These are located above the crop and serve to save energy, control the greenhouse climate or block out incoming and/or outgoing light. Horizontal screens are either powered by a ‘pull cable’ system or by a ‘push pull’ system.
Vertical screens
With a vertical rolling screen system greenhouse walls can be screened to block or reduce light or offer better isolation of the greenhouse. Twin roll systems have the same purpose but these systems can additionally be used to separate sections inside the greenhouse, for example for creating different climate sections. Both systems can be powered by a tube motor or a powerroller.
Exterior screens
An effective way to prevent heat from entering the greenhouse is by using exterior screen systems. Because these are mounted on top of the greenhouse roof they shade away heat radiation before entering the greenhouse. Ideal for greenhouses in warm climates, for crops that badly tolerate heat or ideal as a flexible alternative for whitewashing greenhouses.
Air baffles
Air baffles are transparent plastic shaped triangles placed in the greenhouse roof apex. They form an effective solution against temperature differences between different parts of the greenhouse created by vertical air flows.
